Although Rabbi Joseph Lookstein was unable to attend Rabbi Lamm’s installation in Springfield, Rabbi Lamm’s decision to invite him reflects how highly he regarded him. Rabbi Lookstein spoke at Rabbi Lamm’s installations at the West Side Jewish Center in 1953 and The Jewish Center in 1958.

Letter from R. Joseph Lookstein about R. Lamm's Mentorship to Haskel Lookstein (1952)

My dear Rabbi Lamm: I am sending you herewith a cheque for $200 as a fee which I promised you for the instruction that you gave to Haskel over the summer. I know how you feel about accepting this fee, but I want you to know how I feel about sending it to you. I would like to make it three times the amount, and even then it would not be adequate compensation for what you have done to and with Haskel.
