Dear Gita, I have read the manuscript and am enclosing some comments. Sincerely yours, Annoble. The translation is sometimes too literal, and the style is at times awkward and uneven. The use of similar words in the translation introduces a wrong shade of meaning because the usage of these words differs in the two languages. There are several omissions of words in the middle of sentences and of Talmudical quotations as well as inexactitudes, such as John Fraiser instead of James Frazer, Buisson Dore, instead of Rameau d'Or, a Metzora instead of Tsoraat...

Dear Normie, I appreciated your sending me a copy of “Hedge of Roses.” It would “party fun” for a Conservative Rabbi. I was impressed, first with the fact that you made this effort and secondly, by the literary and lucid presentation of delicate, not overly convincingly susceptible to rational and scholastic formulation.
