Dear Moe: This is to remind you of our telephone conversation last night, in which I recommended that Paul Baris be appointed as Chairman of the Publications Commission. Paul's addresses and phone numbers are as follows: 262 Central Park West, TR 7-7093; 26 Broadway, WH 3-2390. At the same time, let me thank you for offering to contact Nonnie, who is studying at Ja University. Some of our members, Mr. and Mrs. Jasper, are with Charlotte. The fact that you, as busy as you are with important things, take time out to establish this personal contact means a great deal not only to the young man, his parents and me, but also will no doubt have a profound influence upon him, especially when such hospitality and concern are shown.I hope to see you this Monday evening, p.g., for dinner.Sincerely,Rabbi Norman Lamm

Letter to Moses Feuerstein Suggesting Diplomatic Response to a "Religious Crank" (1962)

Dear Moe (Rabbi Feurstein): Your question as to whether the correspondent of the enclosed material is Jewish can be adequately answered by the printed paragraph on the bottom of his letter. I certainly do not think you ought to give him any letter. He sounds like a religious crank, and if you want to get involved I can suggest more thrilling ways. Perhaps the most diplomatic way would be to notify him that you are only a layman and therefore hesitate to write prayers or otherwise engage in ecclesiastical activity.Thank you for remembering my recommendations concerning Paul Baris. Letter from Rabbi about Visiting Camp Morasha (1968)

Dear Rabbi Lamm, I want to take this late opportunity of thanking you for your many kindnesses to [redacted] me when we visited with you and Mrs. Lamm late last week. We were most impressed with the camp and the people there and are grateful for our reception at Morasha. The visit gave us a brief respite from the turmoil that is the daily routine and permitted us a chance of becoming ourselves again, if only briefly. Your name came up over lunch with Rabbi Besdin today as we discussed your article on unity. It was this discussion that prodded my conscience, reminding me that I owe you at least a note of thanks, and much more. I hope that it will not be long before we can get together and talk, as I took much away with me from our conversations. Please thank Mrs. Lamm for me for her many kindnesses. She should have received [redacted] not by now but I add to that note. Looking forward to seeing you before long, and thanking you for your kindnesses, I remain Cordially,
