Dear Mr. Kolet: I feel that although I have been neglectful in my corresponding with you since my visit this last winter, nevertheless this is as good an occasion as any to resume our friendship. I want to take this opportunity to tell you of my admiration for your splendid work on behalf of New Delhi and elsewhere and especially with the children, and to wish you well for the year that is about to begin. Letter to E.J. Mazgaonkar about Replacing Books Lost in Poona Flood (1961)

My Dear Mr. Mazgaoonker, I was terribly sorry to hear about the flood which inundated Poona and which caused the destruction of your home. I can appreciate how terrible the consequences were, but I join with you in thanking Almighty God that at least there was no loss of life or limb. Insofar as your request for religious books, which were also lost in the flood, I might suggest that you turn to our friend Mr. Abraham Jhirad, Executive Director of the UOJC of India, with headquarters at the Magen Hasidim Synagogue in Bombay. We have sent him quite a number of books, and you may tell him that I authorize him sending to you those which you need and which you mentioned in your letter. It is much easier, insofar as shipping problems are concerned, to get them from Bombay.If, however, Mr. Jhirad does not have these particular books, or does not have them in sufficient quantity, please let me know exactly what it is you need and I will ask the UOJC Office to assist you.Please give my very best regards to Mrs. Mazgaoonker and to the Daniel family. Also please remember me to the young lady, I think her name is Bibi Samuel, who was secretary of the Poona Zionist Organization. Letter to Dr. Abraham Stern about Sending Written Material to Publish in India (1962)

Dear Abe: I wonder if you would be kind enough to send all material published by the Youth Bureau to Mr. Abraham Jhirad, Executive Director, Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of India, c/o Magen Hasidim Synagogue, 8 Morland Road, Bombay 11, India. These people are trying valiantly to set up the Bombay community along the lines I have suggested to them during my visit over a year ago. I think the recent publication of "Youth Ideas" by Norman Linzer is particularly appropriate for them. Whatever you can send to them will be useful, and you will be performing a great "Mitzvah."Please be kind enough to do this for me.
