Exchange with R. Zalman Schachter about Noam Elimelech Translation Project (1965)
Dear Zalman: I seem to recall that some time ago you published an article which consisted, in large part, of translations of the “Tzetel” of Rabbi Elimelech of Lizensk. I have not been able to locate the article, and would therefore be deeply grateful to you were you to let me know where I can find it. If, per chance, you have a reprint left, I would be doubly appreciative were you to send it on to me. I am preparing a series of lectures on several other distinguished personalities of Hasidism, among them the author of Noam Elimelech, and want to prepare a brochure with the English translation of some of their writings. If I have your permission, I would like to include some of your translation with, of course, the proper credit being given to you. I have not heard from you in some time, but I do hope that all is well with you and that you are progressing in all your endeavors. Please accept my very best wishes for a “shanah tova u’metzlaha.” Cordially yours, Rabbi Norman Lamm
