Letter to Mrs. Roth about Allentown Lecture on Separate Seating in the Synagogue (1962)
My Dear Mrs. Roth: I cannot tell you how very much I enjoyed my visit in Allentown because of your hospitality and that of your husband and children. The meal was delicious, and the conversation scintillating. All in all, it was an unforgettable evening. I want especially to thank you for that lovely painting which I so admired and which you were kind enough to offer to me as a gift. As I expected, my wife has fallen in love with it. I plan to frame it exactly according to your specifications. Enclosed please find an article on “Separate Seating," which is an elaboration on the theme I spoke about at the synagogue. I also enclose a few pamphlets which you may want to glance at when you have a few free moments. My very best regards to Mr. Roth, Yolanda, and Lydia. I hope to have the opportunity to reciprocate your hospitality if and when they decide to study in New York.Sincerely,RABBI NORMAN LAMMNL\:ffEncls

Exchange with Roth Family about Invitation to Visit Cape Town (1964)
Dear Rabbi Lamm, Apologies for the delay in writing. However my parents only today forwarded their travelling dates and I hasten to advise you of the following: My parents leave for Israel on the 18th February. They have already sub-leased their apartment and moved to the holiday resort – Muizenberg, 15 miles out of Cape Town. Should you be able to visit Cape Town, my brother and sister-in-law will be delighted to meet you and show you the town. Solly & Estelle Yach, “Chequers,” Newlands Road, Claremont, Cape Town

Letter to Mrs. Roth about Replacing Grave Headstone (1974)
Dear Mrs. Roth: This is in response to your question as to whether it is permissible to remove a monument and to replace it with a double-head stone of superior quality. It is permissible to make this exchange. However, I would prefer that the old monument not be re-used, certainly not for profit. Sources: Tur, Y.D., No. 364; and commentaries ad loc., especially Arukh Ha-Shulhan. Sincerely, Rabbi Norman Lamm
