Letter from the American Jewish Committee about R. Lamm's Appointment to YU Presidency (1976)
Dear Norman: Mazel tov and sincerest best wishes on your appointment as president of Yeshiva University. I want you to know that I was not only very happy about this important event but I also reacted with a real sense of excitement and joy as if a member of my own family was so deservedly honored and exalted. I honestly feel that congratulations are equally due to the search committee and Board of Trustees of Yeshiva University for having and exercising the wisdom of selecting you to head the largest and most significant Jewish institution of higher learning under Orthodox auspices. I wish and pray for your continued good health and for your success in leading Yeshiva University to ever more profound scholarship and services. YR:ls. Cordially, Yehuda Rosenman, Director, Jewish Communal Affairs Department.
