Letter from R. Pachino about R. Lamm's Appointment to YU Presidency (1976)
Dear Rabbi Lamm: I am happy to add my congratulations and good wishes to the many others which you have received upon your election to the presidency of our alma mater. Although neither you nor the board of trustees needs my approbation, I enthusiastically concur with their choice and I feel a sense of encouragement regarding the future of Yeshiva under your leadership. Together with many other alumni and colleagues, I look forward to Yeshiva’s maintaining and intensifying its influence throughout the world Jewish community in the spirit of Torah and tradition. Your election has renewed our faith in Yeshiva’s ability to meet the challenges that lie before it. Although the assistance that I am in a position to offer towards easing the burdens which you bear is severely limited, please be assured that I am prepared to be of aid within the framework of my competence. Cordially, Rabbi Marvin B. Pachino, MBP/al. Auspices: Associated Talmud Torahs – a beneficiary of the Jewish Federation of Chicago.
