Dear Normie, Now that the Jewish Studies Review Committee has completed its work and the President has accepted and acted upon its recommendations, I would like to formally convey to you what I have previously told you orally. I am grateful to you for having accepted to serve on the committee when I asked you to, and for having contributed so significantly and meaningfully to the successful conclusion of the committee's work. It is not only for the direct benefit which the committee was able to derive from your thinking and participation in its deliberations for which I thank you, but also for the balanced approach and beneficial influence which you were able to exert by virtue of your person and character.
