Exchange with Norman Marcus about Invitation to Attend Testimonial in Honor of R. Freilich (1971)

My dear Dr. Lamm, It is with great pleasure that we share with you the news that our Congregation will be marking a milestone in our Rabbi’s career at a special celebration honoring him on his 18th Anniversary as the spiritual leader of our Synagogue. This event will be observed at a Testimonial on Sunday afternoon, December 12, 1971, at 3:30 P.M. at our Synagogue. As one of the Rabbi’s dear friends, it would be a great honor for the Congregation, and I am sure, equally for the Rabbi, if you could be present on the afternoon of the celebration to bring a message of greeting and tribute. In connection with this event, we are also publishing a Testimonial Journal which will include messages of tribute by dignitaries and many of the Rabbis and lay friends of our beloved Rabbi. We would cherish such a written message by you in addition, of course, to your presence at the Program. We realize the time is short, and we appreciate the manifold responsibilities that are yours. We would, therefore, be all the more grateful were you to share this Simcha with us personally, in addition to your written message. With all our gratitude on behalf of the membership of our Congregation, I am Sincerely yours, Norman Marcus, Journal Chairman. P.S. In view of the fact that the Journal will be going to press in about 2 weeks, I would appreciate your early reply to this letter.
