Dear Rabbi Langer, At that wonderful dinner on your behalf at the Waldorf Astoria, I met the young French rabbi who is now serving in your former pulpit. I believe his name is Rabbi Gottlieb. He spoke to me about the desirability of having a French translation of my little book on טהרת המשפחה, A Hedge of Roses. He said that funds would be available for publishing and distributing the book in France, but that he does not have the time to make the translation.I inquired of one of my people who I thought would be qualified, but he tells me that he does not think he is sufficiently competent to draw up a first draft. What is needed, apparently, is someone to make a good initial translation, and then Rabbi Gottlieb or one of his colleagues will edit the material both for style and to change those references in the book which are peculiarly American and substitute the appropriate French dimension.My question is: do you know of anyone in your community who would be willing to undertake such a translation of a first draft?
