Exchange with Korngold Family about Dream Regarding R. Lamm's Appointment to YU Presidency (1976)

Dear Rabbi Lamm: Since I cannot reach you by telephone, having tried unsuccessfully for the past three days, I am taking the liberty of addressing a few words to you through this medium. You will recall that about a year or so ago I had told you of a dream that I had, visualizing you as President of Yeshiva University. You accepted this with somewhat of a chuckle and then once again I had the same dream. Today when I listened to the radio, I was so happy and so pleasantly surprised to learn that my dreams had come true. You had promised that I would be the first to know, but modern science notifies us almost at the moment it occurs. May I tell you how my heart is actually singing and may I wish you and your charming wife all the joy, happiness, and nachas that can come to one to whom God has endowed with every fine trait of humanitarianism. You remember my mentioning Joseph Gruss in one of our conversations, and in the event that I can be of any help, don't hesitate to call on me. By the way, Mr. Max Stern asked me to remind him before the High Holy Days about Chasan Torah, Chasan Maftir, or Chasan Bereisis. I will be very happy if you will accord me this honor as long as you are Rabbi of our congregation. Please be advised that on November 27th, 1976 I will be guest of honor of Yeshiva Chasidei Belz of Jerusalem. Sincerely, W. & Helen Kofhgold 765 Shore Rd, Apt. 1.M. Long-Beach, N.Y. 11561 P.S.
