Exchange with Mrs. Klein about R. Lamm's Appointment to YU Presidency (1976)
Dear Rabbi Lamm: On behalf of the Women’s Branch, U.O.J.C.A. I want to extend our heartiest mazel tov on your appointment as President of Yeshiva University. We know that you will be a most capable successor to Dr. Belkin ז”ל and that you will bring new insight, scholarship and prestige to the position. On a personal basis, as the daughter of the two Dean Isaacs, the wife of a YU graduate and the mother of a graduate and two YU students, I was most pleased to learn that you will be guiding the school that is so much a part of our lives. As chairman of the Women’s Branch 53rd Anniversary Convention, I hope that you will be able to speak to us when we convene in November at the Holiday Inn in Bethesda, Maryland. Our opening banquet will be Sunday night, November 14, 1976 and we should like to have you as our guest at dinner and to deliver the keynote address. Our theme is “Ethics of the Fathers” – Pattern for Living Today.” We know from your writings that you are especially qualified to highlight this theme for us. Again, mazel tov and all best wishes in your new undertaking and we hope to be able to greet and hear you in November. Very truly yours, Mrs. Sidney B. Klein, Convention Chairman, 93 Belvedere Drive, Yonkers, New York 10705
