Letter to Irene Fischel with Memories of Her Husband (1974)
My Dear Mrs. Fischel: I was moved deeply by the reprint you sent me of your husband's latest and last article. When the envelope arrived at my desk, it produced a strange reaction in me: a feeling of comfort and solace, as if Prof. Fischel were still with us; and a most poignant and saddening reminder that I shall no longer be receiving these wonderful and enlightening reprints. I do not recall if I wrote to you when I heard the dreadful news of his passing. I believe I was out of the country at the time, and returned after the event. But whether I did or did not write you, I would like you to know how deeply I join all the many admirers of your late and revered husband in missing him profoundly and in expressing to you most heartfelt and sincere condolences.Thank you for the reprint, and may his memory always be a source of strength to you.Cordially,RABBI NORMAN LAMMNL\:cw
