Exchange with R. Angel about R. Lamm's Appointment to YU Presidency and Organizing a Function in His Honor (1976)

Dear Dr. Lamm, I was really delighted to learn from you of your appointment to the Presidency of Yeshiva University. When we first learned of the vacancy, both my wife and I immediately thought of you as the best of all possible candidates for the office. Please feel free to call on me whenever you feel I might in any way be helpful. You have our most sincere good wishes. My wife and I would like to host a gathering in your honor, at which time you would have the opportunity to meet a number of our congregants who have been particularly helpful to Yeshiva in the past. I am certain that they would all be quite pleased to make your acquaintance and to support you in your work. We are, as you can imagine, quite interested in the Sephardic Studies Program of Yeshiva. Over the years, Rabbi Herbert Dobrinsky has established a wonderful relationship with many of our members, and I know that you will learn much from his experience. We would like to have this reception for you sometime in the fall, after the holidays have passed. Please let me know if you would be able to attend such a function on a week-night evening in October or November. If you can give me a date which is convenient for you, I shall do my best to comply. I know you will be very busy, and I do not want to tax your heavy schedule. With best wishes for success in all your endeavors, I am, Cordially, Rabbi Marc D. Angel
