Exchange with Dr. Duker about R. Lamm's Appointment to YU Presidency (1976)
Dear President Lamm (or may I still call you Prof. Lamm, or even Lamm; and may be even, Norman?) Now that the flood of greetings and congratulations has subsided into a more river, and that you may have the time to read some of its contents before facing the avalanche of the new daily activities, may I add a few drops to your steadily bulging archives. It surely would have been much easier for you to be Professor of Judaic Studies at Brooklyn College, and indeed more challenging than that to head the Department. The headaches at Yeshiva University will certainly be greater. However, there is no comparison as concerns the spiritual and emotional rewards.
