Exchange with R. Cahn about R. Lamm's Appointment to YU Presidency (1976)
Dear Norman: It was with the greatest joy that I learned of your still unannounced election to the Presidency of Yeshiva University. I cannot possibly imagine a better choice for this most prestigious, influential office. I am not going to wish you success for that is a foregone conclusion, but I am going to take the prerogative of an older colleague to plead that you take good care of yourself and avoid the burden of illness which comes to those of us who throw ourselves into work without regard of self. Forgive the intimacy of this suggestion, but I am a great admirer not only of your scholarship, but of your deep sense of commitment and love for our people. Now that we have you as a leader I want to keep you for many, many years. With my best wishes. Faithfully yours, Dr. Judah Cahn
