Letter from R. Bulman about Loan from Torah Umesorah to Springfield Hebrew Day School (1963)
Dear Reb Nachum: Received your note and am hastening to respond. I think you are right in suggesting that an invitation by Weisfogel ought to precede your visiting Springfield. As matters stand now, your trip would best be held in abeyance in any event. Amos Bunim has visited Springfield and promised the Day School group there that Torah Umesorah would somehow come through with a $15,000 loan. He found that unless such outside assistance would be forthcoming, it would be impossible to give the group new heart for keeping the doors of the school open. Of course, keeping Amos’ promise is a staggering task for Torah Umesorah. It is presently being worked on with all available strength, and my feeling is that the effort will succeed in a day or two. After the immediate pressures are lifted, several other steps will have to be undertaken which will, of course, involve you much more effectively than would be the case now. Will keep you posted. Best regards and enjoy your vacation. Sincerely yours, Rabbi Nathan Bulman
