Letter from R. Zigelman about R. Lamm's Appointment to YU Presidency (1976)
Dear Norman: It is rare indeed when an appointment of such importance meets with the universal and unqualified approval and enthusiasm as did your recent appointment to the presidency of Yeshiva University. Please accept my most enthusiastic and hearty congratulations upon this well-merited honor. The faculty as well as the student body of this important and highly respected institution are to be congratulated in having at its helm a man of your intelligence, erudition, and devotion to Judaism, one who will not only maintain and foster the high standards of academic integrity, but will exercise and emphasize the position of the University as a bulwark of Torah-True Judaism. Members of the Beth Abraham congregation are fortunate indeed in having had the pleasure and privilege of hearing you as a guest lecturer on several occasions at our Joint Institute of Adult Jewish Studies, and we do hope that your many duties and demands upon your time will not preclude your appearance in this capacity in the future. My wife joins me in extending, once again, heartiest congratulations and best wishes coupled with the wish that you be granted many long and healthy years of accomplishment and fulfillment. My family joins me in wishing you and your family a New Year of health, happiness, and fulfillment. Sincerely, Rabbi Abraham I. Zigelman AIZ/ms
