Exchange with Mrs. Leo Weiner about Establishing Schools for Jews with Little Religious Background (1966)
Dear Rabbi Lamm, I am working to establish Yeshiva junior and senior high schools for the boy and girl with little or no background in Torah Judaism. Mrs. Pearl Lederman Potok suggested I write to you concerning the school project because of your interest in such matters. The project, Beth David Schools, is named after my father, David Casler, may he rest in peace. You may remember him from the West Side Jewish Center which we attended when you were Rabbi there. I am in need of advice concerning the establishment of the schools, programming, recruiting teachers, and, of course, not the least of my problems, raising money for the project. I would also like to know if it would be possible to hold classes in the Jewish Center. I would very much appreciate meeting with you personally at your convenience to discuss the program more fully. Sincerely yours, Mrs. Leo Weiner
