Letter from Dr. Wachs about R. Lamm's Appointment to YU Presidency (1976)
Dear Rabbi Lamm: Your election to the presidency of Yeshiva University is a most positive development in the American Jewish community. Speaking for the faculty of Gratz College, I want to express our congratulations and best wishes for a most successful tenure. Personally, it was my pleasure to be with you on two occasions in the past, once as a guest speaker to your congregation on Jewish music and once when we both participated in a conference on Jewish education sponsored by the American Jewish Committee. On both occasions, your warmth and unusual powers were evident. As head of the central institution of Orthodox Judaism, I know that you will make great contributions to the American Jewish community and the world. With best wishes for God’s blessings upon you. Sincerely, Dr. Saul P. Wachs Dean
