Exchange with Seymour Abrams about Offer for Presidency of Hebrew Theological College (1974)
Dear Rabbi Lamm: At the risk of granting you the observation, that I may be selling by means of flattery – let me most assuredly advise you, that this is not my manner, at all. I tell it as it is. Rabbi Lamm, now that I have had the pleasure of meeting you, I can readily understand why all regard you in such approbation. Everyone else may be prejudiced, but I have a high regard for the values of nephew and nieces, and if they say you are what my Yeshiva needs, and after meeting with you, I too am firmly convinced that you and our Yeshiva, with the help of the Almighty, can create a place in Jewish history that you both richly deserve. As promised, enclosed is all of the material you had requested. Looking forward to seeing you in Chicago. With warm personal regards. Kol Tov L’Chaim, Seymour Abrams
