Dear Rabbi Felder: I would like to turn to you for your opinion on a question that falls directly within your field of competence. The enclosed is a copy of a letter which I received from a young man who has turned Orthodox (from Reconstructionism!) within the last several months. He is a thoroughly genuine individual, and I would like to offer him an authentic solution for his problems. You may be sure that I deeply appreciate your expert assistance. Letter to Dr. Schwarzschild Wishing Him a Refuah Shleimah (1967)

Dear Dr. Schwarzchild: Mrs. Lamm and I just learned last night from Marty that you were admitted to the hospital. The both of us would like to join your many friends and well-wishers in expressing to you our most heartfelt wishes for a "refuach schalemah." May the Almighty grant you a speedy and complete recovery, return to your family and to your work. You know, of course, that your decision to enter the hospital has interfered with my plans. I had hoped that Marty would spend the weekend with me. The only way I will find it in my heart to forgive you for this terrible offense is by your promise to observe religiously all doctor’s orders, to get the proper rest, and to achieve the complete recovery I just spoke of...Our very best regards to Mrs. Schwarzchild,Cordially,Rabbi Norman Lamm

Letter to Dr. Weiss about Yom Tov Sheni Shel Galuyot Article (1969)

Dear Dr. Weiss: About three or four years ago I talked to you about an article I have been planning on Yom Tov Sheni Shel Galuyot, and I showed you the draft. I very much appreciated your comments, and subsequently submitted it to the Jewish Heritage where it was printed in somewhat truncated form. Because of the recent Conservative vote, which makes the subject relevant once again, I have expanded on the published article, and, upon the request of Rabbi Zevulun Charlop, am submitting it for publication in Chavrusa. Rabbi Charlop is looking into the possibility of having it printed so that it can be reprinted in large numbers. If this can be arranged, do you think the Union would be interested in distributing it? If so, it would be good to know in advance how many offprints you would want. Please do not feel that I am soliciting circulation. That is about the last thing that I have in mind. I do feel, however, that if it is of value, it ought to go beyond the rather limited audience of the Rabbinic Alumni of Yeshiva. Cordially yours, Rabbi Norman Lamm
