My dear Rabbi Rabinowitz: I am delighted to learn that you will be visiting in New York from December 25 to January 18. At present I have no plans to be out of town during that time and do hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you and visiting with you during your stay with your sister-in-law and brother-in-law. On behalf of Rabbi Jung and myself I would like to extend to you an invitation to preach from the pulpit of the Jewish Center on Saturday, January 7. Letter to R. Melech Press about Educational Project on Shabbat and Eruvin (1970)

Dear Melech, I once again looked over the material you sent me on Shabbat and Eruvin. Quite frankly, I am impressed with it and especially with its clarity. Unquestionably, there is something of value here. However, I feel that the audience for which it was written is rather restricted. Study groups that cannot read Hebrew and are sufficiently interested in Yahadut to pursue such matters do not abound all over the country. In other words, this is the kind of material that would appeal to JSS students, or Stern girls who have no yeshiva high school background. While this certainly is commendable, I wonder whether such a small audience is worth a major publishing effort.As I explained to you over the phone, this is about the worst time possible to solicit me for a new venture. I am being overwhelmed by all kinds of requests and, as you are well aware, the economic conditions are such that people have simply stopped giving for anything.I hope that God willing, and Nixon listening, conditions will yet change, in which case I certainly will want to participate in a venture of this sort. Letter to R. Ephraim Buchwald about Jewish Center Youth Group Leadership (1972)

Dear Ephraim, I tried to contact you before you left, but unfortunately, without success. I appreciate that I am quite late in making this proposition to you, but still I feel I ought to try. I have been told that you will not be teaching at Ramaz next year. From this I deduce that you may be available for a side-job in the youth field. As you may know, we have the beginnings of a good teenage group at The Jewish Center. I am looking for a leader such as yourself; for once, I am looking for the best. Tentatively, their program is flexible. I assume that they would prefer not to have much on Shabbat itself. Even if so, however, it would be good if the leader of the group occasionally would stay for Shabbat when it is important. This about sums up my first general, and vague, proposal. Do let me know as possible if there is any likelihood that you might be interested. Please write to me c/o Camp Morasha, Lake Como, Pa. 18437.
