Letter from Dr. Lev about Winning Abramovitz-Zeitlin Prize (1972)

הרב לם הנכבד, אבי מתכבד להודיעך בשם ועד השופטים לפרס מטעם קרן אברסוביץ–צייטלין, כי הוחלט להעניק לך את הפרס השנתי הניתן על מנת "לעודד הוגי דעות וסופרים לחבר יצירות ספרותיות שיהא בהן כדי להסביר לבני אדם שחונכו על ברכי המדע את אמונת ישראל, תורתו ומצוותיה." פרס זה – הניתן מדי שנה בסכום של 1,000$ – ניתן לך על שני הספרים שכתבת: 1) Royal Reach. 2) Faith and Doubt. מקובל הוא שאנו מוסרים את הפרס לזוכה בטקס הנערך בציבור במעמד השופטים, ואז מקבל הפרס נושא את דברו. מכיון שכבודו נמצא בחו"ל, היינו רוצים לתאם את טקס מתן הפרס לתקופת שהותו בארץ ולפיכך נודה לכבודו אם יודיענו מתי בדעתו להיות בארץ. פרופ' זאב לבנ.ב. לפי התקנון צריכים להגיש לועדת השופטים 6 אקסמפלרים מכל ספר ; אנו מבקשים לשלוח אלינו עותק נוסף מכל ספר עבור מר מ. אביב, יוזם הקרן. לפיכך, אולי תוכל להורות למו״לים לשלוח 7 עותקים מכל ספר מהנ"ל אל הכתובת:קרן אברמוביץ-צייטלין, החברה לנאמנות של בנק לאומי לישראל, רח' יהודה הלוי 30-32, תל אביב.העתק : חברי ועדת הפרס; 1) פרופ' א. גולדברג,2) השופט העליון דר' י. קיסמר,3) מר י. יוסטמן,4) מר מ. שטרןזל/זכפ

פרופ' לב הנכבד, אתמול קבלתי מכתבך בו הודעינו על הכבוד הבלתי-צפוי שניתן לי. ואם כי יודע אני בעצמי שאיני כדאי ושאין אותה עטרה הולמת אותי, הנני מקבל את הפרס השנתי של קרן אברומוויץ-צייטלין ברגשי כבוד לחברי ועדת השופטים הנכבדים, ותודה לך ולאנשע הקרן ויוזמיו, על העידוד להמשיך בעבודתי במקצוע זה שאני עמל בו כמה שנים. כנראה שאוכל להפנות מעבודתי כאן באמצע חודש שבט, והנני שהותי בארץ מיום 16 יאנואר עד ליום 23 יאנואר אי"ה. הואלך נא בטובך להודיעני אם יש לאל ידכם לתאם לתקופה הכל את טקס מתן הפרס, עם כל הפרטים הדרשים לי.ביקשתי מן המו"לים להמציא לכם את שדעת הווכסמפלים משל ולמד משני הספרים, על-פי הכתובת שהזכרתי.

Dear Professor Low: I am sending you this letter air mail special delivery, and also a separate copy by special messenger who should be arriving in Israel on January 7 אי"ה. It should be obvious that I do not place excessive faith in either the Israeli or American postal systems...
