אחדשה"ט בהערצה. נתבשרנו שרומעכ"ת שליט"א עומד לבקר במדינה זו בקרוב כדי להגביר את כוחו של החינוך היהודי – יהא בואו לשלום! בשם ועד קהלתי הקדושה ובשמי אני, הריני מזמינו בזה לכבד גם אותנו בביקור במוסדותינו לתורה ולתעודה בהזדמנות זו, ואם אפשר גם להשמיע באזני בני בית קהלתנו הקדושה כמה דברי עידוד והתעוררות. הרה"ג הגאון מוה"ר ש"ר דר' ווייס שליט"א יתן לרומעכ"ת שליט"א את האינפורמציה הדרושה אודות קהלתנו הקדושה. אני תקווה שרומעכ"ת שליט"א יענה בחיוב להזמנתנו זו, למרות העבודה החשובה והמאומצת המצפה לו כאן, וכאשר יגיע בע"ה הנה נרשה לעצמנו להתקשר אתו לשם קביעת מועד הביקור. בתודה מראש, בהערצה ובברכה הריני לסיים, ויה"ר שיעלה בידו לחזק לבות אחב"י ורצונם להחזיר עטרה ליושנה – עטרת חינוך תורני מסורתי ברוח ישראל סבא. בכבוד רב והוקרה כערכו הרם, בכנות נאמנה.

Letter to Bronner Family about Representing Torah Judaism in South Africa (1964)

Dear Rabbi and Mrs. Bronner: I have waited to write to you until I could personally deliver your regards to Rabbi Amsel. I spoke to your sister earlier, and just this morning spoke to your father, giving both of them your regards. All is well with them here, and I know they will be writing to you shortly. Let me tell you now that it was a real pleasure to meet with you and to get to know you, however brief were our meetings. It is encouraging to know that there are people whom we regard as "anshei shelomeinu" who are unshakeable in their dedication, and perseverance, and their loyalty to Torah Judaism, and hence serve as a focus of inspiration towards the goals of Torah and Judaism in South Africa. Please give my fondest regards to our mutual friends of the Yeshiva College, especially Rabbi Taneer, Mr. Ruch, and all the others. I spoke to Rabbi Oettinger yesterday, and he asked to be remembered to you too. Best wishes for a Happy and Kosher Pesach. Cordially yours, Rabbi Norman Lamm

Letter to R. Emanuel Feldman about Oxford Synagogue Pulpit Opening (1964)

Dear Manny: A queer and outlandish thought has occurred to me: to ask you if you would ever consider a pulpit in South Africa? It so happens that the largest synagogue in Johannesburg is vacant, and that it presents excellent opportunities for a person just as yourself. Whether or not you even want to hear more about it is, of course, up to you. Please let me know if you would ever consider this. It would be good to hear from you as soon as possible, one way or the other.Sincerely,RABBI NORMAN LAMM
