Dear Alex, I just heard about the marvelous Memorials Weekend that just was concluded at Kodimoh. The reports I have been receiving have all mentioned, first and foremost, the extremely prominent and successful part that you personally played in making this what has been described to me as the most notable weekend in Kodimoh's history. I thought I would let you know how thrilled I am to hear this wonderful news. After much serious discussion, we decided that it would not be right to let you pay for our hotel bills. However, the fare for the air trip... Is, don’t give up on Springfield. Your quote from Elie Wiesel as to indifference being the opposite of love is correct and it ought to inspire you to do something instead of just being bitter about those who are ruining things. Incidentally, Wiesel and his wife will be over at my house tonight and I will tell him about his lack of influence in Springfield.
