Dear Rabbi Lamm, A friend of mine who attended your lecture to Rabbi Koss’ group spoke glowingly about it. I was also shown the two or four–page leaflet containing some extracts from the writings of the “unsaintly sage” – where allegedly the views expressed by Maimonides matched those of any individual in U.S. so–called “progressive” exponents of Judaism. I should love to send your numerous brochures to about six individuals (laymen) who have been led to believe that all lofty and keen conceptions of God and the good life of the last century have come from Isaac M. Your lecture was very well received and your anticipated impact on our community did not fall short. I regret to inform you that due to some unknown reason your lecture did not come out on the tape. I feel terrible about this but I’m sure you understand. I believe that I heard you have accepted the position left vacant by Rabbi Rackman. Is this true?
