My Dear Colleague: I would appreciate it greatly if you would be able to comply with my request in the following areas. A. Please send the first four copies of your synagogue bulletin from Sept. 1963. B. I would appreciate it greatly if you could send me any outline material on your supper lectures which you have held from Sept. 1963. I have written to your brother, Rabbi Maurice Lamm, for copies of his monthly synagogue bulletin from September 1963 on, and I have written to the Fifth Ave. Synagogue and to Congregation Kehillath Jeshurun, 125 E. 85th St., New York City, NY 524-0800. I would like to get from these synagogues a total of three issues each since they all had a bulletin. I therefore would appreciate it greatly if you could send me your issues. This is being done at random on each of these synagogue’s mailing lists and if at all possible, to obtain three issues from their synagogue bulletin from September 1963 until the present issue. I am enclosing a copy of my sermon entitled “Rabbi Stay Alive” and I would like to have your comments on it. Trusting that you will make every effort to comply with the three requests that I have listed in this letter as they are very important to me. Exchange with R. Rabinowitz about Request to Write on Jewish Attitude Toward Gentiles (1970)

My dear Rabbi Lamm, I hope this letter finds you well. Knowing how busy you are, I am hesitant to approach on the subject which follows, but I have an idea, which I hope is correct, that you would welcome this assignment. I am enclosing herewith an article by Dr. D. Sperber on Gentiles in the Talmud, and I think you will agree that it is a competent article. On the other hand, it restricts itself severely, as he was requested to do, to the Talmudic aspect. Would you agree, taking the existence of this article into consideration, to write a more comprehensive additional article on the general Jewish attitude towards Gentiles as a whole. If you agree, which I earnestly hope you will, we would like an article of up to 2,000 words. Should you unfortunately find yourself unable to do so, can you immediately by return recommend someone who can do it. In fact, to save time, I would rely on your judgement and request you to ask someone else to do the article.
