Dear Rabbi Lamm: Please accept my words of congratulations on your accession to the Presidency of Yeshiva University. Although I have never had the honor of meeting you, mutual acquaintances, such as Mr. Joseph Schiff of the West Side Jewish Community Council, have frequently spoken to me of the splendid leadership you have provided to our Jewish Community of the West Side. As you can see from my letterhead, I am a candidate for public office. It seems to me that the legitimate public policy concerns which we share as Jews should be given consistent expression in the halls of the State legislature. I would consider it a privilege if you could find the time to meet with me, either alone or in the presence of some of your colleagues, to discuss matters of mutual priority, and, in the event you find me properly receptive, to see if you might not wish to provide some measure of assistance to me in the present campaign. Dear Dr. Lamm, It is never too late to offer congratulations and best wishes, and so, somewhat belatedly, I would like to warmly congratulate you on your election to the distinguished post of President of Yeshiva University and to wish you every success in your challenging and difficult task. I am proud to be an honorary alumnus of Yeshiva University. May I permit myself to say that the Board of the University has chosen wisely and well. In sending you all my wishes for the future, I would add that the Hebrew University will be glad to co-operate in every way possible with Yeshiva University and I personally will be happy to foster and strengthen such co-operation wherever I can.
