Dear Walter: I have been trying to contact you by telephone but find that phones do not apply to intellectuals. What I wanted to tell you was that I am quite anxious to check over the symposium on Israel, in which I participated and which you are preparing for publication in the forthcoming Tradition. I will feel very uncomfortable having the piece go to press without my seeing it in advance. Incidentally, I came home by plane from Chicago with Pincus Peli and he told me that he has the identical feelings. I suggest you let him see a copy too. Cordially yours, Rabbi Norman Lamm

Letter to R. Wurzburger about Publishing Letter to the Editor in Tradition Responding to R. Tendler (1968)

Dear Walter: For some reason unknown to me, certain people assume that Letters to the Editor do not get published without special pull or push. I have just heard from Major Norman A. Bloom, a doctor at Westover Air Force Base who has written to you in criticism of the article by Tendler. He sent me a copy of the correspondence asking me to prevail upon you to have it published. So here I am again – and, of all things, once more concerning a Tendler article. Believe me, I have absolutely nothing against the man, and find it embarrassing to be in this position a second time. But I suppose that our stated policy will prevail, and the letter will be published anyway. Do let me hear from you about the fate of my New Morality article.
