Dear Immanuel: By now our criss-crossed letters on the Jewish Chronicle editorial have finally crissed and crossed, and I regard it as a good sign that we all did instinctively what we later advised each other to do! Since we last corresponded, the Jewish Chronicle published my letter, and I talked to Dr. Samuel Freeman of the Jewish Center Lecture Bureau, who informed me that he would look into the question and make the proper arrangements immediately. Yesterday I received a letter from Frankel of the Jewish Chronicle, and I enclose a xerox copy for your perusal. I have not yet decided what to answer him, but I certainly do not intend to let myself be boxed into a corner. Any suggestion how I can get out of this gracefully? Meanwhile, my very best wishes, and those of Mindella, to you and Amelie and all your children for a year of health and peace and ever-greater creativity. Exchange with R. Renov about His Appreciation for R. Lamm's Sermons (1969)

Dear Rabbi Lamm, This brief note has a double purpose, both of which are expressions of gratitude. First for your warm and gracious reception and the interest shown in my daughter Shira. Second for the inspiration gained from reading your sermons. I refer specifically to “Be Not Overwise” and “The Fourth Son” which I have been reading most recently. I have yet to read one of your sermons that left me unmoved or unrewarded. You are certainly a rabbi’s rabbi, as well as an inspiration to your קהל קדוש. What is even more important is that you are more than a דרשן מעולה.

Exchange with R. Zalman Schachter about Noam Elimelech Translation Project (1965)

Dear Zalman: I seem to recall that some time ago you published an article which consisted, in large part, of translations of the “Tzetel” of Rabbi Elimelech of Lizensk. I have not been able to locate the article, and would therefore be deeply grateful to you were you to let me know where I can find it. If, per chance, you have a reprint left, I would be doubly appreciative were you to send it on to me. I am preparing a series of lectures on several other distinguished personalities of Hasidism, among them the author of Noam Elimelech, and want to prepare a brochure with the English translation of some of their writings. If I have your permission, I would like to include some of your translation with, of course, the proper credit being given to you. I have not heard from you in some time, but I do hope that all is well with you and that you are progressing in all your endeavors.
