תפילה – מחלוקת רמב"ם ורמב"ן – ריה"ל. מנין התפילת – חול, שבת, יו"ט, יוה"כ. אבות תקנום: כנגד תמידין (פנימיות וחיצוניות) [כוונה והלכה]. זמני תפילה – זריחה ושקיעה קובעות mood. שחרית: הודאה ללילה שעבר: התחדשות גוף ונשמה, רחמים בעבר. מעריב: בטחון ללילה הבא, רחמים בעתיד. Exchange with Dr. Yehuda Blum about the Prayer for the Israeli Government (2006)

לרבי נחום, שלום רב, אני מצרף בזה את מכתבו של עורך־דין טוביה גולדמן אודות הברכה לשלום המדינה. לדבריו, גם אמר בשעתו ש.י. עגנון לאביו כי בחר בנוסחה של "ראשית צמיחת גאולתנו" בהסתמך על כתבי הרב קוק לפיהם הגאולה "תצמח" בהדרגה ולא תבוא בבת-אחת. לאחר פטירת עגנון מסר אביו של גולדמן את כתב-היד המקורי של התפילה שהיה ברשותו לבתו של עגנון אמונה ירון. כאשר שאל טוביה גולדמן לפני שנים אחדות את אמונה אם יוכל לעיין בכתב-היד (וזאת לאחר שדוד תמר ייחס את כל התפילה לעגנון), השיבה לו כי העבירה את כל כתבי היד של עגנון (כולל התפילה לשלום המדינה) למכון לכתבי יד של האוניברסיטה העברית שם הוא אמור להיות עתה. באותו מכון שורר, לצערי, אי-סדר רב וספק אם אפשר יהיה לאתר בקלות אותו כתב־יד.אני מניח כי הרבנים הראשיים השלימו עם "תוספת עגנון" ומה גם שבאווירה ששררה בשנת 1948 היה קשה להוציאה לאחר שנכנסה לטיוטה, וד"ל.בברכת חג שמח וכשר לך, לביתך ולכל משפחתך,ובידידות נאמנה,יהודה

Dear Rabbi Lamm, During this semester, the Student Organization of the Rabbinical Department will be holding several study events dealing with T’fillah. Rabbi Herschel Matt will be continuing a bi-weekly discussion group which began last semester. In addition, we are organizing a series of several speakers who will deal with an aspect of prayer from their own individual point of view. I am writing to you, on behalf of my colleagues, to extend our invitation to you to speak to us on some evening during March, April or May. As a rough guide to our interests and concerns, I would like to suggest the following questions for your consideration. However, you should not feel in any way bound by them. First, can there be a meaningful theology of prayer for contemporary Judaism? Are new forms of prayer necessary? How does this approach and these forms relate to traditional categories of prayer? Let me re-iterate to you that these are merely suggestions. We want you to speak about aspects of prayer which you think are significant.
