Notes on Pirkei Avot

[1] אבות – why at end of נזיקין? (a) דיינים (b) ethical ending for discussions of mundane wastes, כל ישראל יש וכו. [2] (a) משנה סנהדרין פ״י (b) כל ישראל denies assertion of weathers + only christians (+ present catholics) trial all mild except small set destined to Jewish Traditions. Doesn't refer to Israel only, twice חסידי אומות העולם allow, etc. (c) שנאמר: שמ׳ ס-כ״א: Sages didn't claim to regulate never religious doctrines, hence Sages authentic scripture [4] why say it before

הוי זהירין ברשות

Not מרשות – in advice to the political component, (in line with most people – to דין, take to נשיא – i.e. problems of leadership). Advice to be a democratic leader, not like gov't of those days – + this – which אין מקרבין etc. Principles of democratic rule: 1. ברכות נ"ה ע"א: א' ר' יצחק אין מעמידין פרנס על הצבור וכו' מבצלאט 2. השררה היא עבקות לשרים – שהם משועבדים בלצבור. הוריות דף יו"ד ע"א וידברו אל לאמר אם היום וכו' כבן גמליאל וכו' – ר"ג הוא מרא דשמעתתא דידן – הוי זהירין ברשות – והוא מי שלימד שרשות היא שעבוד לצבור.
